What Harry Wrought: YA Lit After JKR

This interactive presentation will examine the chronology of change in the publishing world from Judy Blume to Laurie Halse Anderson to John Green and more. The impact of Rowling’s series on post-Potter YA books and series will be explored. Participants will discuss and debate how current books build on elements from Harry and friends that resonated with readers. Blurry lines among types of YA books will be addressed, including realistic fiction, fantasy, so-called problem novels, and graphic novel adaptations.
